An image from a sequence takes no more RAM than a single image of like
resolution.
I would check to make sure you are actually loading a sequence and not an
image, also make sure, when loading a sequence that you delete the last
three digits in the filename.
LW will also use the last image of a sequence loaded if there is a gap in
the numbers.
